This is probably my favourite ‘fashion shoot’ that I’ve done. Firstly, because I absolutely love this floral dress from Zara. Part vintage with a modern twist, it’s ticking every floral dress dream I’ve had this Autumn and literally requires 0 effort when getting dressed. Secondly… well, look at that backdrop. In life, there are beaches, and there are gorgeous cliffside coastal mountain beaches.
Thirdly — and believe me, it’s taken months for this to happen — this photo shoot was the first time I didn’t feel wildly uncomfortable posing for pictures.
What I’m Wearing
| Dress: Zara | Shoes: Schuh (old) | Hat: New Look (old) | Nail Colour: Essie in Fifth Avenue |
I pretty much feel like an imposter in every photo shoot. I assume everyone is looking at me thinking, “Well she’s not a model, what a joke” (to which I want to yell back, “Yeah I’m not a model, but MAN do I love clothes! And I NEED to take these pictures in order to blog about them!” I have yet to yell this at anyone, which is probably a good thing considering that would take 10 minutes to say. I should probably work on my witty comebacks).
However, when this photo shoot happened, something clicked. I felt free, I felt confident, and I felt like I didn’t give two shits what anyone thought about me posing awkwardly on some rocks with my hat on. It was liberating. And it’s why I have so many photos in this post. I actually had tonnes to choose from! This never happens!
So I may have made Stag and I late to meet his family for dinner, and yes, I may have scared off a kid or two from climbing on the rocks behind me, but it was worth it. I nearly conquered my fear of my looks and my self. And it’s all thanks to this little floral number I have on.
Magical this dress is, I tell you. Like some confidence-boosting best friend that’s hugging you all day long. Go buy yours at Zara and see if I’m not right. You’re welcome.
