Part two of my sustainable holiday gifts, and this one is, of course, for him. And by ‘him,’ I mean Nick. Because really, this is just Nick’s Christmas Dream Wishlist in a Blog Post. You will notice a trend with my descriptions of why I included these products. “For the man who likes design and functionality” “for the guy in your life who works from home” “for the coffee lover.”
Meet Nick, otherwise known as the S of W&S.
And not only has Nick inspired many of the items on this list, but he instructed me to include many of these gifts chosen below — namely, because they are products he loves so much himself. Guys are notoriously hard to shop for. But when you have recommendations from guys who love and appreciate products, it becomes much easier.
So, from Nick (and me) to you, have the happiest of Christmasses shopping for the men in your life.
/ ROCKWELL RAZOR SET* — Once I showed Nick this matte black razor set, he didn’t want to look at any other. That perfect present for the design-conscious man in your life.
/ FIVE TWO SILICONE LIDS* — Yes I know, who puts ‘silicone lids’ on a Christmas guide. But Nick agrees this is one of the best kitchen purchases we’ve made, replacing the need for saran wrap or multiple tupperwares.
/ VOITED RECYCLED OUTDOOR BLANKET* — When I asked Nick the best present we’ve ever received, he said, “that waterproof outdoor blanket we take for picnics” (he is, above all, practical). This one is not only made from recycled materials but is water and stain resistant, packs down small, is machine washable, and has the coolest print ever.
/ COYUCHI WAFFLE ROBE* — A ‘because I love you’ present for Nick from me earlier this year, and he says it’s his favorite robe purchase yet.
/ KOTN CREWNECK TEES* — If you’re man is anything like mine, finding the perfect ‘plain cotton tee’ is a challenge. These ones from Kotn not only are sustainable and eco-friendly but have the best weight to them that he found.
/ KINTO TO GO TUMBLER* — The perfect gift your coffee-loving man, this replaces the need for single-use cups and is the ideal size for flat whites.
/ FITBIT CHARGE 4* — Not necessarily a ‘sustainable’ pick, but Nick’s sleeping habits have improved immensely since getting his FitBit. He explicitly told me to put this on the men’s list, because it’s that great of a gift.
/ NAADAM FLEECE SWEATPANTS* — I’ve included Naadam products on both my men’s and women’s lists, because they really do make such high quality sustainable loungewear. These ones have that elusive ‘cozy but not hot’ weight that’s perfect for most men.
/ BAXTER WOOD RAINCOAT — A raincoat is one of those things that everyone needs but not many people have. Baxter Wood’s iteration is handmade from recycled plastic bottles and is of the highest quality. They have quickly become one of my favorite independent brand discoveries.
/ BUSHWICK KITCHEN GINGERBREAD MAPLE SYRUP — For the foodie in your life. Who doesn’t want to smother pancakes with gingerbread maple syrup on Christmas morning? My favorite stocking stuffer pick.
/ CUYANA MEN’S WEEKENDER BAG* — Cuyana’s men collection is a streamlined, edited collection of pieces perfect for gift giving. I love that this weekender bag is a neutral tone beyond the typical men’s ‘black and cognac.’
/ BANG & OLUFSEN HEADPHONES* — Nick asked me explicitly to put this on my men’s gift list because, even though they aren’t necessarily sustainable, in his words: “in terms of value for money in use, this is the best purchase I’ve made hands down.” If your partner works from home, a pair of these noise-cancelling headphones is your best bet.
/ FJALLRAVEN MINI COOLER* — We take this little cooler with us on every roadtrip, picnic, you name it. It’s the perfect size for two drinks and a little snack.
/ YIELD DESIGN FRENCH PRESS* — I realize this list is very coffee-drinker forward, but that’s Nick in a nutshell. And, if you couldn’t tell, this one is on his wishlist for Christmas. This would make a great gift for a man who enjoys kitchen gadgets as much as good design.
/ BY HUMANKIND BAR SOAP VARIETY PACK — Nick swears by this soap, for how it lathers, smells incredible, and doesn’t dry out his already-dry skin. Plus, he loves that it’s a zero-waste option for a body wash, hard to find in such good quality.
/ TAYLOR STITCH YOSEMITE SHIRT* — Taylor Stitch is my favorite menswear clothing brand, both for its rugged yet stylish aesthetic and quality, sustainable materials. Any of their shirts would make a great gift, but I particularly love the Yosemite shirt (and it’s Nick approved).
/ JAPAN EASY BY TIM ANDERSON BOOK* — A cookbook is a great ‘fun to open on Christmas morning’ gift, and this one is top of Nick’s list.
/ NAADAM CASHMERE SWEATER* — Nothing says Christmas like a cashmere sweater. Having tried a few sustainable / not too expensive brands, we found that Naadam’s sweaters are by far the best. I love the marled brown design of this sweater.
/ STUDIO NEAT PANO BOOK — For the works-at-home, design-is-cool nerd in your life (a.k.a, Nick). The pano book is a great tool for creative thinking, planning, and designing, making it an unusual but wonderful gift choice.
/ STUDIO NEAT MATERIAL DOCK — Nick is a huge fan of Studio Neat, crafters of functional design pieces. The charging dock sits on his nightstand and looks so much neater than any messy cables or cords.
/ TAYLOR STITCH MINIMALIST WALLET* — This is also on Nick’s Christmas list, which is saying something considering he’s a ‘buy one wallet for a decade’ kind of guy. After lengthy research, he concluded Taylor Stitch’s minimalist wallet is the best design.
