As you may have gleaned from my other beauty posts, when it comes to me and beauty, I am generally two things: a big ol’ cynic, and a lover of natural, cruelty-free brands. It usually means I find most products take-it-or-leave-it. This is especially true in the skincare department, where everything claiming to ‘Fix You’ (thanks for the tears, Coldplay) mostly just sits on your skin. And when it costs a bomb to test (and dislike), in the words of Sweet Brown, “Ain’t nobody got time for that.”
So when a PR company sends me a new range I end up loving so very much — enough that I’m already planning to buy again — I’m one happy bunny. Enter in KINN, an organic lifestyle brand with a killer bath & body range.
So now that I opened with the giant spoiler of the entire post (sorry), let me discuss more about KINN, including its focus on natural, cruelty-free ingredients:
“KINN is an organic lifestyle brand with a collection of plant-based products for your body and your home. For us, organic and non-toxic isn’t a trendy gimmick or a box to tick. It’s a lifestyle choice that impacts what we put on our skin, our food and our homes. Our ingredients are eco-friendly, non-toxic and vegan. Kind to skin and naturally effective. Our packaging is fully recyclable, sustainable, and all fully-traceable, ethically-sourced and made in Britain.” (Read all about KINN here).
So that’s an ethos I can definitely get behind. I may not be into ‘clean eating’ (bacon is a not a choice; it’s a calling), but I really am an advocate for trying to be as sustainable, eco-friendly and, well, ‘clean’ as possible in the other areas of my life.
Unbeknown to me when I first received the bath & body products, KINN actually offer an entire cleaning range. This includes house cleaners, washing up liquid, etc, all offered at the same prices of most eco-cleaners you get at the supermarket. Discovering a new, independent brand that sells organic products at competitive prices? Honestly, this is one of the best parts about blogging.
Admittedly, I haven’t tested the cleaning products (so I can’t comment on their effectiveness), so instead I’ll focus on what you’re all here to read: my review of the bath & body products.
The range includes a body oil, bath oil, body wash and body lotion. As you can always trust in my reviews, I’ve been rigorously testing them on my dry, sensitive skin for a few months now. Stag has as well, actually, and his skin is like me while PMSing it’s so sensitive. Needless to say, I think we were the best guinea pigs to test out whether KINN’s bath & body range lived up to its ‘great for sensitive skin yet effective’ claim.
The results? I have to say, I love love love the entire range. Each product smelled exactly the same — which, luckily, echoes the scent of a luxurious spa. I am always a bit finicky with oils — moisturizing my skin takes long enough without having to add oily slick to the mix — but the KINN body oil actually absorbed pretty quickly.
My two favourites of the bunch, though, were definitely the Body Lotion and Body Wash. Don’t be deceived by the term ‘lotion;’ this baby is thick, more like a proper moisturizer. Enough so that I wouldn’t suggest it if you have very oily skin (LUCKY YOU. ugh). However, for those with dry, flaky skin, this lotion is an amazing everyday choice. And the body wash — guys, the lather on this thing. Is incredible. If you’re a fan of natural body washes, you’ll know finding one with a proper lather is impossible. So trust me when I say: holy grail body wash here.
After a few months of use, I’ve decided the KINN beauty range will become a staple in our household. Their approach to clean, natural and eco-friendly beauty at a reasonable price point is refreshing; however, most importantly, their stuff works. And that alone has melted my cynical heart. Just a bit.
